Jim West Collierville TN - Sam Davis Home

Sam Davis (right) is often referred to as the "Boy Hero of the Confederacy".   In 1861, at the age of 18, Sam Davis joined the 1st Tennessee Volunteer Infantry, and went to war for the Confederacy.  He was executed by Union forces in Pulaski, Tennessee.

Collierville Christian Church photo

Friends of mine have narrowed down a place for their wedding at the Morton Museum  (orignal location of the Collierville Christian Church).  This is an awesome Gothic Revival type building.  I will update with some photos of the inside when I get a chance.

Construction began around 1873 and rennovations through the past 100 years.  At one point the larget bill in Shelby County was in this building.

This reprint was found at an estate sale in Central, TN, about 450 miles from Collierville, TN (near Johnson City, TN)

Tank factories of the Second World War, 1940-1945

The story of the tank began in World War I, when armoured all-terrain fighting vehicles were first deployed as a response to the problems of trench warfare. In Britain, tanks were first referred to as landships. The Landships Committee was set up in 1915 by Winston Churchill to develop designs. To conceal their true purpose from possible spies, they were called tanks, to give the impression of simple water tanks. The name stuck.
